Medical Advantage plans are "bundled" plans offered by private insurance companies. ALL plans are approved by Medicare. 

Most have extra benefits like Dental-Vision-Hearing-OTC benefit, etc.

Prescription Drug Coverage with Generic and several "Tiers" of other drugs available.  Usually paired with a Medicare Supplement or "MediGap" plan. This is INCLUDED with most Medicare Advantage Plans



Coverage Types

Original Medicare

When you hear someone say "Original Medicare", they are referring to Part A and B together. Once enrolled in Part A and B, then people usually choose one of the following:

  • Medicare Advantage Plan       (sometimes referred to as Part C)
  • Medicare Supplement Plan    (paired with a Part D drug plan)

Medicare Advantage Plans

This type of enrollment covers Prescription drugs plan AND other benefits like Dental, Vision, Hearing, Gym memberships, $ for groceries, OTC (Over the counter) non prescription drugs.

Medicare Supplement Plan

Also called Medigap. These are designed to cover many co pays, coinsurance, and deductibles. This plan does not cover prescriptions and you will need a separate "Part D" plan as well.
